What a day!! We passed the JP/R, still can`t believe it!
Mocca was the youngest dog and had the highest points! The judges were really crazy about him.

I told you about the JP/R. It`s the German "Jugendprüfung für Retriever". You have to do the test before your dog is 24 months.
You can get 10 points for each exercise. When your dog does VERY good they can give it 11 points but they do that very seldom.

Our first exercise was the track. Mocca and me couldn`t see the track one of the judges laid with the rabbit. It was about 300 metres with three 90 degree angles in it. No blood, just the rabbit pulled behind the track layer.
The dog works it out on his own, without a leash.
So I just stood there and had to trust Mocca who was getting a small point on the big field.
The judges behind me were like "wow, what a speed and HOW exactly". Later the judge told me, he had seldom seen an exact track at THIS speed.
It was the best track this day and we got 11 points!!

Then followed the walk up. I was really afraid of the heelwork. But I told you about me changing his command and he was so relaxed. When we stopped in front of us a rabbit ran away (my nerves!!), the shooting came, I told him "apport" and Mocca thought "ok, mummy, they haven`t hit the rabbit but I`ll get it for you". Of course he hadn`t seen the duck in front of us falling... I called him back and they throw it again and then he went out full speed. 10 points for steadyness and heelwork (*yeah*) and 8 points for marking here.

Then the water mark. Mocca jumped into the water, fetched the duck, and gave it to me without laying it down and shaking. 10 points.

Then the search. There were four pieces in the searching area. Two rabbits and two birds. I was wondering a bit about the quite small area the judge told me. And Mocca gave speed and searched the whole area, taking a fantastic depth and width. The judge was very cute, he told me that there wasn`t any game and I could call back my dog as he would get exhausted.
I would have let him search as he has a good endurance but I listened to the judge and called him nearer. He found all four pieces. 10 points.

Then they judged the will to please with 10 points and the working style with again 11 points!!
Use of his nose was 10 points.
Delivery 9 points as he dropped the rabbit once and hesitated a bit at the first duck in the search.

You can`t imagine how proud I am!!!
